The Young Singers Chorus of Vermont is a program in its second season, featuring three separate ensembles, tailored to grades 1-12. Weekly rehearsals will be held throughout the year and all Choruses will perform alone, in conjunction with the Mad River Chorale and with orchestral support throughout the 2010-11 season.
“Singers will graduate as musicians,” promised artistic director Piero Bonamico, who with his wife, Andrea, will direct the program and lead a team of professionals who are prominent as both musical instructors and performers throughout Central Vermont. The manager of the choruses will be Alexis Murphy-Egri, choral director for the Montpelier School District High School and Middle School. The accompanist will be Mary Jane Austin-Reynolds.
The first rehearsal/ informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16th, from 4 to 5 p.m. for JR/SR Treble (grades 1-5) and 5-6 p.m. for JR Mixed (grades 6-8) at the Betha ny Church on Main Street in Montpelier. The SR Mixed (grades 9-12) will meet on Saturday, September 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at U-32 High School in Montpelier.
Here, parents will be able to speak with chorus manager, Alexis and complete their registration for the coming session and the kids will begin singing! There are two solo concerts scheduled for this fall, on November 7 and December 12, plus the collaborative concert with the Mad River Chorale on December 23.
This year, some rehearsal times and locations have changed to please look carefully at the following information:
- JR/SR Mixed (Grades 1-5) rehearsals will meet Thursdays at Bethany Church from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.
- JR Mixed (Grades 6-8) rehea rsals will meet Thursdays at Bethany Church from 5:00-6:30 pm.
- SR Mixed (Grades 9-12) rehearsals will meet Saturdays at U-32 High School from 9:30 am-12:30 pm.
We encourage you all to go out and recruit as many students into the program as possible. Please tell your friends!!! Last year was a stunning first season and we can’t wait to see you again in September.
