Hello to you, friends from far and wide. I am inviting women to come sing in my Ladies’ Night Out Women’s Chorus. I would appreciate you promoting this choir in any way you feel comfortable. Print LNO flyer and hang it up, or announce the choir try-outs to choirs and singers you know.
Many of you have heard from me before, and some I know can’t sing with us. But you could help me fill the choir out! We especially need high sopranos. I am trying to round up a really good group of singers for a fabulous concert to herald in the Christmas Season on the First Sunday of Advent with our harpist, Heidi Soons. Our two venues are beautiful churches with glorious acoustics.
So, here are the details.
Rehearsals Tuesdays Sept 21 to Nov. 16, 7-9 pm at the Rutland Middle School.
Dress rehearsal Saturday, Nov. 27 at 3, pot luck supper before 7 pm performance at Trinity Church, Rutland.
Second performance on Sunday Nov. 28, with a call at 2 for a 3:00 concert at St. Bridget’s Church, W. Rutland. The free will offering taken will be given to the church to help with the orphanage in Haiti that they support.
$25 fee for the semester.
We are singing The Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten for Harp and Treble Voices.
The other carols we are singing are the following (to whet your appetite, and to give you more info to encourage your friends to sing with us!)
O Come Emmanuel
Mary Did you Know
Tomorrow will be my Dancing Day (for harp and women’s voices)
Fum Fum Fum
Jesus Rest Your Head (John Jacob Niles)
I am really looking forward to our rehearsals starting Sept. 21. I am asking all newcomers to sing for me on either Sept. 7 or 14 so I can judge the overall sound of the choir. I am calling it a try-out rather than an audition, because I don’t want it to be threatening to anyone.
