The Green Mountain Opera Festival is holding auditions for chorus members for their upcoming production of Carmen. Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 22 (see specifics below) and rehearsals will alternate between Burlington and Waterbury one evening per week (most likely Tuesday or Friday night depending on the availability of the chorus members.) Performances will be at the Barre Opera House on June 17 and 19, 2011.

for Bizet’s CARMEN

The auditions are for both male and female singers for its June production of Bizet’s Carmen. Each chorus member will be paid a stipend of $200 and will have the opportunity of interacting with professional singers, a symphony orchestra, a conductor and stage director. Artistic Director Taras Kulish says, “We are looking for singers who are dedicated, passionate and interested in this exciting opportunity.”
Performances of Carmen will be held at the Barre Opera House on June 17 and 19, 2011. The chorus will begin rehearsing weekly in April and May (day of the week to be determined) alternating between locations in Burlington and Waterbury, with a more intensive rehearsal schedule in June prior to the performances.
Singers interested in this opportunity are asked to prepare two selections demonstrating their vocal capabilities, such as arias, art songs, or folk songs. One selection in French would be appreciated since the opera will be performed in that language.
