I wanted to spread the word about the Green Mountain Opera Festival’s performances of CARMEN this Friday evening and Sunday afternoon at the Barre Opera House. The soloists are outstanding including Julie Nesrallah as Carmen and Richard Troxell who recently sang the role of Don Jose at the Sydney Opera House. Maestro Daniel Beckwith who has conducted at the Met and NY City Opera is conducting an orchestra drawn from the Met orchestra as well as VSO members and the chorus includes auditioned singers from across the state. This is a rare opportunity to hear first class opera in Vermont! I hope you’ll have an opportunity to attend one of these performances. Ticket sales (especially for Friday night) have been brisk so it would be best to order tickets in advance if you plan to attend.
