Vermont Boychoir auditions & news (April 2013)

Please spread the news, we will hold auditions for boys ages 7 – 18 on Sunday April 7th from 3:00 – 5:00 in the Fellowship Hall of First Congregational Church – Essex Junction.

Currently we have about 8 boys. We would like to double that number.

We will be hosting a concert of the Georgia Boy Choir from Atlanta under the baton of Director David White. David previously directed the Atlanta Boy Choir, the Singing Sons of Florida, and the South Carolina Boychoir (the group I directed in South Carolina for 5 years was the Palmetto State Boychoir – a different group). David has served for many years in the ACDA including in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Look up the Georgia Boy Choir on youtube to hear some of their beautiful repertoire (which currently includes Mozart’s Regina Coeli – I love that piece!).

NEWS: David has invited our boys to join his choir for a couple of numbers at their concert on June 4th. I will send out more information on the concert soon. Please spread the word to the boys that you know love to sing. If you have boys in your choir and would like to lend them to the Vermont Boychoir for the GBC concert on June 4th, we plan to start rehearsing on Saturday, April 13 from 3:00 – 5:00. Your boys will be guests and not members of the Vermont Boychoir. They will return to your choir with experience performing with a world – renowned boy choir, a video recording of their performance and a certificate of participation plus we will promote your choir on our website and on our growing mailing list and blog. Take a look at www.vermontboychoir.org. Email me so we can talk about your kids.

BTW: We require our boys to sing in other choirs. Boys who sing in the boychoir will be exercised in Solfeg, proper vocal technique, diction, sight reading, etc. We also have a scholarship program that pays the partner choir for sharing their boys. While the amount is not a lot, if you are interested in sending your boys to auditions and participating in the scholarship program for 2013-2014, please let me know. The boys in this category are called “Scholars” because their primary purpose is music education although naturally they will also sing in our concerts.

Don’t forget to email me to talk about your boys or any boys that you would recommend.

Thank you for all that you do to inspire boys to sing!
